3 Easy Ways to make your PC run faster:

1. Check your system specs (Start button/Control Panel/ System) and check to see how much RAM or random access memory your system is running. If it is under 512 Megabytes for Windows XP or 1 Gigabyte for Windows Vista, consider upgrading your RAM to at least double capacity. This is one of the least expensive and best ways of getting better performance.

2. When was the last time you cleaned house? Open the clean-up utility in Windows (Start button/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Clean-up) and get rid of those old files such as what's in your trash can or unwanted temporary Internet files. Then open Windows Explorer (right-click your Start button and then click "explore") and see how much space you have on your "C:" drive (My Computer/Local Disk (C:)right-click/Properties). You should have several Gigabytes on most modern systems. If you only have a few Gigabytes then consider upgrading your internal hard drive, or your computer. Windows needs at least a spare Gigabyte on the "C:" drive to run efficiently. This is mainly due to Windows Virtual Memory manager that compresses and decompresses when your system RAM is running low and you are running a lot of programs. You could also consider removing unwanted programs from your system by opening the "Add/Remove Programs" utility (Start button/Control Panel/Add/Remove Programs) and then selecting any unused or unwanted programs. Be careful not to disturb any system or crucial programs.

3. Once you have cleaned up your system and removed any unwanted software programs then run the disk defragmentation utility (Start button/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Defragmenter). This utility recompiles the order of files and software on your internal hard disk which allows it to run more efficiently.
