There are so many places to go in Rome that it is best if you have an idea before you arrive what sort of trip you would like to have; a historical trip taking in all the famous sights or a more modern look at the city tasting the delicious cuisine and fashion. Rome is entrenched in history and there are a number of wonderful historical sites to sample. The Colosseum is perhaps the most famous and spectacular. It dates back from AD72 and could fit 50,000 people inside to watch mass slaughter and brutal fights.

Throw in some coins to the Trevi Fountain, a crescendo of flowing water amongst the chaos of the city. The coins thrown in now are donated to the Red Cross. Try to visit late at night or in early morning to avoid the rush of tourists taking photographs.

Visitors of the city can also pay a visit to the Vatican and see where the Pope lives in the world's biggest church in the world's smallest country.
