How to Build Your Own Sandbox

A sandbox provides endless hours of fun for your children and they are not as difficult to make as you'd think. All you need is a little DIY know-how and the right tools and you will be amazed to find how easy it is to build your own sandbox.

• You will need to take a trip to your nearest department store to purchase the items necessary to complete this task. To build your own sandbox you'll need some wooden boards, a power drill, some screws and of course, lots of sand. Once you are happy you have all of the items and tools you need to build your own sandbox, you can get to work.

• Take your wooden boards and measure them up to the size you want. It will generally be square in shape, but part of the fun is that it is up to you! Once you have your measured wooden boards, take your screws and drills.
• The wooden boards will be needed to cover the bottom and sides so be sure to purchase a good amount to cover these areas.
• Place your boards together (you may need some help to hold them in place whilst you drill) and mark where you will drill the screws into the boards. Once you have this marked on the wood, plug in your drill and screw the wooden boards together.
• Ensure you have done a good job by checking that it is sturdy and there is no splinters or sharp screws sticking out. Remember that your children will be using this sandbox so make sure it is safe.
• If you are happy with the result, place the sandbox in an area of your garden where you can keep an eye on your children having fun as you continue your day-to-day errands and activities.
• Fill the sandbox with sand and, if you are feeling creative, build another part for water! Children love to play with sand and water so this is a great idea.
