Easy Biscuit Recipes for Children

100 grams of soft margarine
75 grams of soft light brown sugar

175 grams of self-raising flour

The Method

 

  • Set the oven to 180°C/gas mark 4. Grease two large baking sheets. Using a wooden spoon beat together the margarine and sugar until light and creamy. Gently stir in the golden syrup, flour and chocolate chips. Once well mixed, add the milk and stir thoroughly. Place evenly spaced spoonfuls of the mixture onto the baking sheets and bake for 12-15 minutes. Remove from the oven immediately and place on a wire rack to cool. Ingredients for basic biscuits (makes 14)

75 grams of soft margarine
150 grams of caster sugar
150 grams of self-raising flour
1 egg (beaten)

125 grams of icing sugar (sifted) mixed with 15ml of warm water

The Method

  • Set the oven to 190°C/gas mark 5. Grease a large baking tray. Using a wooden spoon beat together the margarine and sugar until light and creamy. Gradually add the egg with small amounts of flour. Once all the egg has been added and the mixture is well combined, fold in the remaining flour using a metal spoon. Put medium sized spoonfuls of the mixture onto the baking tray, allowing ample room between them. Bake in the centre of the oven for 12-15 minutes. Remove from the oven, leave to cool for a few minutes, and then transfer onto a wire rack to cool completely.
