Designing your own zombie make-up is an excellent way to ensure that you will not look like every other zombie out roaming the streets this Halloween.
It is very easy to create that unique zombie make-up look. The three most important points to consider are; skin colour, blood, and rotting skin. The first thing you should start with is skin colour.
Skin Colour
- You will want your face to look like the skin cells are slowly dying. You should start by covering all visible areas of your skin with water based white face paint. Then use face paints to give the face definition. Use black face paint to create the impression of sunken cheeks and eyes, blending it in to the white face paint.
- Adding some green tinges around the mouth and eyes will further suggested rotting skin. You also need to add bruises; these are easily created by dabbing a blot of red face paint on the area you wish to be bruised, you then add a light layer of blue on top, and finish it off with yellow around the edges. This will give you a realistic looking bruise. Your zombie make-up will start to take shape. Next you will need fake blood.
Fake Blood
- Zombie make-up will always have to include some bloody wounds. You can make fake blood by mixing maple syrup, cocoa mix and red food colouring. This gives the blood a thick, dark look. You can make the blood look even thicker by adding a little cornstarch to the mixture. Next you want to create the impression of skin falling off.
Rotting Skin
- To create the impression of rotting skin with your zombie make-up you can use cornstarch. To make this you mix cornstarch with water, red food coloring and cocoa mix. After applying the cornstarch mixture to the skin you can also add toilet paper to the wet area. When it dries it will give you the impression of skin that is falling off.
