Applying Your Own Blackout Window Tinting

Blackout window tinting can easily be applied to most any vehicle for the purposes of achieving privacy, to make the car or truck look more appealing, or to simply help block out the hot sun in warm weather areas.

When preparing the car windows to install blackout window tinting, it's essential to be meticulous and properly clean the entire surface on both the inside and outside. Even though you're going to apply the tint on the inside of the window, you need to also clean the outside fully so you can see any cracks, dings or dents in the glass. This will affect how to most evenly and fluidly apply the actual tint itself. Use a solution of ammonia and glass cleaner with paper towels to thoroughly clean the front and back side windows of the vehicle.

Cleaning
Don't rush the cleaning process because you need to make certain every single spot and blemish of dirt or debris is completely removed so that the blackout window tinting process will adhere in the most uniform and streak-free way. Then dry the glass fully with a clean, cotton cloth and let fully air dry for ten to fifteen minutes.
It's now time to complete the tinting job.

Apply the Tint
Now that the windows are thoroughly prepared to apply the blackout window tinting, you need to take a tape measure to correctly measure each section of window from edge to edge, top to bottom. Then carefully cut a slightly larger sized section of the black tint from the roll. Place each window section of tint on a flat surface such as the roof of the car. Then starting with one section at a time, gently peel back the plastic, adhesive backing from the square piece of tint. Flatten it out with the back of your hand.

The blackout window tinting work is almost complete now. What you have to do next is to wet the back surface of the section of tint with a spray bottle of warm water. Then simply adhere the tint section to the individual window. Use a rubber squeegee to smooth and flatten out all of the wrinkles and bubbles on the tint until it adheres fully by itself.
